In the midst of university admission being run through ‘preliminary exams – achievement exams – Korean SAT,’ what kind of talented people did Korea bring about, and what did the students want to be when they grew up? On the second Thursday of November, it is a common sight for work to start late and for police cars to take truant students to school in Korea. We follow the educational issues of Korea remaining even in 2019, such as the decay of the nation due to private tutoring, the eight school districts of Gangnam, and the birth of the teachers’ union. We trace back through history as it all points to the start of the 21st century.
